Marine Biology Camp
Marine Biology Camp Inc. is based in South Florida and is run through various cities and schools. The camp director, Gerard Loisel, has been teaching marine biology to students of all ages for the past 49 years. For 26 years, he taught marine biology and oceanography at Nova Southeastern University where he was the College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Teacher of the Year for 2008-2009. Loisel was also the host of the PBS television series "Marine Aquarium World" and in March of 2020 was featured in a Discovery Science Channel series. The camps run throughout the summer and during spring and winter breaks. Children attending the camp get to study a sea grass community, explore the intertidal zone, study dangerous marine animals, learn how to tag fish for scientific research, and much more. Field trips include visits to Virginia Key Beach and the University of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science. Each camp session is 5 days long and is open to children 8 to 14 years old. The fees are set by each individual city or school and vary based on which city is hosting the camp. One day camps, eight week classes, private camps, school visits, and after school programs are also available. Camp session dates are listed below. Please continue to check our website for updates.
