Describe your clinical specialties. I specialize in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS). It is a subspecialty of gynecology that focuses on the evaluation and surgical management of patients who have a wide range of complex, benign gynecologic conditions including abnormal uterine bleeding, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, and pelvic pain. What is your patient care philosophy? My patient care philosophy is to value each person as a unique individual, to optimize the human connection between patient and physician, and to work alongside patients to help them achieve their health goals. What would you like people to know about you as a physician? As a physician, I am honored that patients choose to place their trust in me during vulnerable times in their life. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work alongside patients and I strive to treat them in a holistic manner. Additionally, I really enjoy focusing on the education component of medicine. Understanding the details of care plans and knowing what to expect from treatment is essential. What do you enjoy most about working with patients? I really enjoy getting to know patients and learning about their goals in their health journey. Educating patients and explaining medical concepts to them in an understandable manner is a priority of mine. How does your work improve lives? Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery is a method of providing optimized care and a path to allowing patients a faster return to their normal lives. With these techniques, patients experience less pain and scarring, and quicker recoveries. What are some interesting facts about you? I am originally from Pensacola, Florida, and have always enjoyed traveling and experiencing different cultures throughout the world. I have a love for ethnic cuisines, and a passion for cooking them as well, including a range of dishes from sushi to baklava. Some other interesting facts include that I was a quarterback on an intramural football team and I also played the snare drum in my high school band. Would you like to share about your family? My amazing husband is a physical therapist and also works for Lakeland Regional Health. We are die-hard Florida Gator fans, and we love the outdoors, particularly hiking and fishing. My husband and I are working towards a goal of visiting every National Park in the US. We also have two loving dogs that we rescued during the pandemic.
