Zeidan Hammad
Dr. Zeidan Hammadis a board-certified physician specializing in Family Medicine and has been in practice for more than 37 years. He provides continuing and comprehensive health care for individuals and families across all ages, genders, diseases, and parts of the body. At the High Institute of Medical Science in Camaguey, Cuba, Dr. Hammad earned his medical degree and completed his residency in Nephrology. He then completed his Family Medicine Residency and served as Chief Resident at the University of Medicine and Dentistry at Hoboken University Medical Center in New Jersey. Dr. Hammad has extensive teaching and leadership experience. He most recently served as a core faculty member and co-director for the Family Medicine Clerkship at the College of Medicine at Florida International University. Dr. Hammad sees patients at the Parkview Family Medicine office. Describe your clinical specialties. Family Medicine — a medical specialty within primary care that provides continuing and comprehensive health care for the individual and family across all ages, genders, diseases, and parts of the body — is my area of specialization. I also specialize in nephrology, which is a subspecialty of internal medicine concerned with diagnosing and managing diseases of the kidneys and urinary system. What is your patient care philosophy? Treat every patient as if they are family or a friend. I put patients’ best health interests first — and treat every patient with the same time, dedication, and commitment I would invest on those closest to me. What would you like people to know about you as a physician? I focus on demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills, compassion, good work ethic, enthusiasm, honesty, and a sense of humor. Why did you decide to become a physician? It is the most humane field where you can truly enjoy helping others achieve their health goals. What do you enjoy most about working with patients? The highest satisfaction is when you feel someone trust you to talk about the most important thing in their life: their health. When did you know you wanted to be a doctor? Since I was 8 years old, I knew I wanted to become a physician. How does your work improve lives? I help individuals navigate to good health and then stay healthy, prevent disease by identifying risk factors, and coordinate and manage chronic diseases — all with the goal of longevity and improved quality of life. What else would you like to share with our readers? In order to be a successful doctor, I believe we must be human, listen, respect and help.
