Cakes By Mona
CMNY Cakes is a specialty cakes company founded by the mother-and-son team Mona and Ro. Mona has been baking and decorating all her life, but started out her career in an office administrative capacity. In the early 2000’s, she began making wedding cakes and other desserts on the side for a now-defunct catering company. By 2005, her son Ro, who’d always been artistic in school, began helping his mom with the cakes while enrolled in college for accounting. By 2008, Mona had opened up a shop, was making cakes full time, and had a team of decorators while Ro, a licensed CPA by this time, began focusing his time on the cake business as well. Today, CMNY Cakes has two locations where clients can meet and sample cakes and a staff of bakers and decorators. Mona handles most of the business affairs while Ro is in charge of marketing and artistically oversees various aspects of the business. Together with Mona and Ro, culinary meets artistry.
