Tryouts: We recommend you do not wait till the last tryout. We hire on a as needed basis and our academy has limited spots. Tryout Information: 500-meter (550 yards) pool swim under 10 minutes, and a 1.5-mile run under 15 minutes. (Note: 500 meters is the minimum standard - Team Standard is 1000m in under 18min) Tryout dates: Dec 13th - 1pm - UWF Aquatic Center January 10th - 8am - UWF Aquatic Center January 31st - 8am - UWF Aquatic Center Applicants that successfully pass, will have a quick informal interview. If selected the applicant will be put into the USLA Lifeguard Academy - Every Saturday and Sunday in February Upon passing the academy the applicant can be expected to start work the first week of March.
